Looking for small town charm in a growing community? Look no further than Star, Idaho. Located about 25 miles northwest of Boise, Star’s population has grown to about 2,500 residents in the past few years. Many new real estate developments in and around the city have increased its population in recent years with new developments in the works.
The Boise River, just south of town, provides many opportunities for outdoor fun. Fishing, swimming, “floating” the river or just hiking along the shore. Whatever your pleasure, you’ll find the banks of the Boise River an inviting retreat.
Although Star is still small in stature, the business community is growing. The center of town is home to the Star Merc, the only grocery store in town and a fixture in the city of Star for many years. You can buy groceries and other sundries at this well-know gathering place. In recent years, several new businesses have located in the community with plans for more service-oriented businesses to open.
Star’s first community park, Blake Haven Park, was recently established. The city plans to add playground equipment and either soccer or ball fields as funds permit.
The Meridian School District, Idaho’s largest school district, serves the area in and around Star. In the Meridian district, elementary schools include kindergarten through 5th grade, middle school includes 6th through 8th grade and high school includes 9th through 12th grade. Currently, Star has one elementary school and middle and high school students attend Eagle Middle School and Eagle High School.
River Birch Golf Course, located just east of Star, is the newest golf course in the valley. Its rural setting and wide open fairways provide a great golfing experience for both the new and experienced players.
The roar of auto racing more your style? Firebird Raceway is located east and north of Star on State Highway 16 towards Emmett. Each weekend throughout the summer, races are held at the straight track.
