Welcome to Nampa, Idaho
Living up to its agricultural roots, Nampa, Idaho is located about 20 miles west of Boise in the middle of the Treasure Valley’s agricultural region. The city’s population is rapidly growing and currently stands at about 70,000.
Nampa is home to Northwest Nazarene University, a Christian liberal arts university which was founded in 1913 and is affiliated with The Church of the Nazarene. With a student body of 1469 students, NNU offers bachelors degrees in a variety of disciplines.
The Nampa Recreation Center, a physical fitness facility owned by the City of Nampa, is located on the south side of the city. The Rec Center has walking paths, pools and exercise equipment and is available to all residents of the city.
Nampa has several parks that provide an outside retreat to residents. Lakeview Park, located on the north side of the city, has a wide expanse of grass for picnicking or frisbee throwing and a pool for summertime refreshment. The mission of the Nampa City Park’s Department is “To promote, protect and enhance the health and lifestyles of both residents and visitors through the availability of quality open space and recreation alternatives.”
The city of Nampa and the surrounding rural areas are served by two school districts – The Nampa School District and the Vallivue School District.
Major employers in the area include Amalgamated Sugar Company, Gayle Manufacturing, NNU, and Mercy Medical Center. Nampa has two 18 hole public golf courses – Ridgecrest Golf Course ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top 10 courses in the state, and Centennial Golf Course. Whether you a beginning or experienced golfer, these courses have something to offer.
Ridgecrest also has a 9 hole executive course for those just getting into the game.
